When ‘Doing’ safety in the workplace, it is still commonplace for workers or supervisory staff to
Log-in, Find, Print, Fill-in, lose, find, scan, rename, save to server, open actions register, log/risk score/set dates/set accountabilities/ make calls or send emails to book in remedial actions, close register…. And get back to work.
When you speak to the management team, they simply CAN NOT BELIEVE how bloody slack the operations team is, and why they don’t ‘Value Safety’.
My thoughts?
Rationalise systems and leverage technology to lower the fruits & make safety participation easy. At the end of the day…. Valuing Safety is not the issue, placing a higher value on the audit trail is.
